Have you read THE GIVER?

MatchedOk, I really liked THE GIVER by Lowis Lowry. A utopian society where life is perfect, because there is no crime, or hunger, no war, nothing “bad.” Of course this comes at a price. Government control!

So in MATCHED by Ally Condie we see a similar premise. The government is in control of the people’s lives. It really makes the reader think about how our future will be. Will “Big Brother” be involved in every aspect?  Will the people of the future NOT know how to write their name with a pen or pencil?  What will the use of technology do to our future? As it helps us, is it also hurting us?  So many questions to contemplate. . . I cannot wait to hear your responses (after you read MATCHED!).

Matched is an amazing book. Love trianges are great in books, especially in this one. I love how Ally Condie writes. The discription of the City Hall at the match banquet and after. The discripton of everything in this book made it fell like a movie. The sequel is even more amazing. Thank you for for putting this on the school blog.

This book strongly reminded me of the Uglies Series. It was a book the kept me wondering throughout the entire thing. I have to say, reading books like the Giver, Matched, and Uglies- what is our future going to be like? Will the government truely take control? Will technology be the cause of our everlasting destruction? It’s all a question.
